Interference with Contract or Advantageous Business Relationships

Tortious interference with contract or advantageous business relationships occurs when a party intentionally damages another party’s contractual or business relationship[s], and it is an actionable claim.  With respect to contracts, such an action typically arises where the actor induces a party to a contract to breach that contract, where the actor had no basis for doing so and did so with full knowledge of the existence of the contract.  With respect to the tortious interference of a business relationship, a claim arises where the actor interferes with a party’s intent or ability to enter or maintain a business relationship.
